Moving-day access

Parking and access can shape the whole removal.

A short carry from the property to the vehicle can save considerable time. Restricted parking, stairs, lifts, narrow entrances and long walking distances must be understood before moving day.

Tell us about both addresses

  • Where the removal vehicle can legally stop
  • The distance from the vehicle to the entrance
  • Steps, stairs and floor levels
  • Lift size, availability and booking requirements
  • Narrow roads, gates, corridors or doorways
  • Time restrictions or rules imposed by a managing agent

Parking arrangements

Local authorities and private developments use different rules. Contact the relevant council, property manager or landowner early enough to arrange any permit, bay suspension or approved loading space.

Cones or bins placed on a public road do not necessarily reserve a legal space. The arrangement must comply with the rules applying to that location.

Flats and managed buildings

Confirm whether the lift must be protected or booked, whether there are permitted moving hours and whether loading vehicles need to use a particular entrance. Tell us the floor level and whether any part of the route involves stairs.

The customer is responsible for making building arrangements, but early information helps us plan the right team and timing.

Why access affects the estimate

Long carries and restricted entrances increase handling time. They may also change the vehicle that can be used, the number of staff required or the way large furniture is prepared.

Photographs or short videos are useful supporting information. Please also describe the access in writing so important details are not missed.
